The next thing taken off was both front wheel hubs as well as the steering arms. The rest of the engine ancillaries were removed, the radiator drained. Both the engine and gearbox oil were drained at this point also.  

Then with some brute force and an engine lift I man handled the engine and gearbox out in one piece on my own just in time to be caught on camera trying to pop the discs in my back into place again. 

After all the hauling I was left with one grubby messy looking but empty engine bay.
